In terms of local education opportunities, standards of education have long been among the best with highly rated schools and exam results traditionally above the UK average.
Over 90% of primary schools are rated as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted as are 77% of secondary schools.
Bury College has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted since 2007. The college campus is packed with the latest facilities, resources and accommodation. Over recent years £48 million has been invested in developing the main campus and plans are underway to broaden its education offer further via a merger with the University of Bolton.
Holy Cross Sixth Form college and University Centre has also been classed as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and rated one of the top ten sixth form colleges nationwide. Thanks to its partnership links with a range of universities across the country students can take both degrees and higher education courses. The Sixth Form College, on the outskirts of Bury town centre, is one of the Maple Group of colleges and has a long track record as a specialist A Level centre with nationally outstanding results.
Bury Adult Learning Centre has also achieved a great Ofsted result and offers loads of opportunities for learning for leisure, developing skills for work and caters extensively for people with additional needs.
