Who are we?
Tameside is a great place to live and work and is one of the highest performing council’s in the country, being awarded LGC Council of the Year 2016.
Tameside is named after the River Tame, which flows through the borough, and includes the towns of Ashton-under-Lyne, Audenshaw, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield, Hyde, Mossley and Stalybridge, plus parts of Longdendale. Tameside is one of the ten Local Authorities that make up Greater Manchester, with its 2,700 employees (excluding schools) delivering vital services to it’s 219,000 residents. The area boasts fantastic schools and affordable housing set in stunning countryside - and it is just a 10-minute train journey from Manchester city centre!
At Tameside, we recognise that our people drive our success and enable the organisation to deliver on its vision, purpose and priorities; and that our people are our most important resource and asset. We continually strive to be an employer of choice, where employees feel valued, listened to and know their contributions really matter.
Our People Plan has five strategic aims supporting a positive culture to embrace the changes and challenges ahead, whilst delivering our key priorities:
What can you expect from us?
Working together, we are proud to work for Tameside!
Our People Plan plays a critical role in embedding our values and behaviours, which will enable transformational change, whilst driving continual improvement in delivering our priorities. We pride ourselves on living by our STRIVE values of Support, Trust, Respect, Integrity, Value Diversity and Engage. Our values underpin our practice and behaviours and are at the heart of everything that we do. How we do things are just as important as what we do.
