Our People Plan has five strategic aims:
What can you expect from us?
Working together, we are proud to work for Tameside
What else can we offer?
As well as making a difference to your community and working for one of the highest performing council’s in the country, here are some other reasons we think you should consider a career with us:
Tameside has signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment. That means we will recognise your continuous or ‘unbroken’ service in any Greater Manchester local authority or NHS organisation, Transport for Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service or Greater Manchester Combined Authority; giving you access to our service-related benefits.
An induction that will help you to understand what to expect once you start at Tameside, how the council works and how your role contributes towards the council’s aims and objectives.
Tameside has a genuine commitment to equality of opportunity for staff and customers and we aim to employ a representative workforce that reflects the community we serve.
We have a comprehensive workforce development programme, leadership development programme, as well as an aspiring manager programme and all employees receive an annual development review once a year in order to identify any development needs, including access to professional qualifications. There is also free access to around 200 online training courses.
Up to 30 days leave per year depending on pay grade. This is in addition to statutory bank holidays. Part time workers have their leave calculated on a pro-rata basis depending on the amount of hours they work. We also operate a Holiday Purchase scheme.
We appreciate that it can be difficult to find a job that fits in with your personal life. Tameside is committed to improving the work life balance of employees and has a number of policies in place around various types of flexible working. Tameside also has many family friendly policies in place, including generous schemes covering maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
You can arrange for part of your salary to be ‘sacrificed’ in exchange for a number of benefits including childcare vouchers, which will pay (in whole or in part), for the childcare services that you use.
Teachers can join the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. More information on this scheme can be found by visiting www.teacherspensions.co.uk
Most other Tameside MBC employees can join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The LGPS is run by regional funds and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) is the fund that Tameside MBC employees pay into. More information about GMPF and LGPS pensions can be found at www.gmpf.org.uk
We offer a range of other staff benefits including discounts at local shops, restaurants, health and fitness clubs and much more.
