Frequently Asked Questions

We’re here to help. So if you’ve got questions, we’ll do our best to answer. We’ve pulled together a list of the questions we get asked most often.

Still stuck? Drop us a message on our contact page is a careers website and jobs board operated by a collaboration of public sector employers led by Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council. Most of the employers in the collaboration also share an on-line recruitment system called an Applicant Tracking System (ATS). The list of employers who use, and the recruitment system they use can be found on the following page also publishes job adverts on behalf of other employers. These adverts will link back to that employer’s website for applications or will provide details on where an application form should be returned.

Select 'Job Alerts' from the menu.  Enter your name, email address and alert criteria and select register. You will receive an email asking you to verify your details, and your alert will be set up. You can set up as many job alerts as you like.

On you will find vacancies advertised by a range of organisations. To request feedback following submission of an application form, or an interview you have attended, you will need to contact the employer who has advertised the position directly.

Employers should always include contact details within their advertisements. If you cannot find these within the advertisement, please visit the employers website to find out how you can get in touch with them.

The majority of jobs on this website allow you to apply online and so a job pack is not required. If the post does not allow you to apply online, there will be a link to an application form or the employer’s website to find the application form. If you need further assistance, contact details for each employer should be available within the advert text.

The closing date for each vacancy is shown on each job advert. As long as your form is submitted by that date, you can take as long as you wish to complete the form.

Any applications that are made online are submitted straight into the employer’s recruitment system which also allows you to track the progress of your application. If the application is not online, you can find information about returning application forms in the advert or in the application pack.

You cannot register with, but you can set up one or more job alerts to let you know when a job that meets your requirements is advertised. When you decide to apply for a job, you will be asked to register and create an account with the relevant employer’s jobs application site.

For data protection reasons, we did not transfer accounts from ‘yourcounciljobs’ to or any of the associated employer jobs sites. You will need to create new job alerts, and register with the relevant employer’s jobs application site when you apply for a job.

Your employer should let you know where you can find out about vacancies that are only available to current staff.

If you are employed by one of the collaboration employers, you can find internal vacancies here:
