Parks and Projects Team Apprentice

Location: Civic Centre, West Paddock, Leyland, Lancs, PR25 1DH

Salary: 1st year apprentices - legal minimum wage rate for over 23 regardless of age on
appointment currently £9.50 per hour (£17,956 annually).

2nd year apprentices - Real Living Wage £9.90 per hour.

Hours/Working pattern: Full Time

DBS Check required: Yes

Your role

As the Parks & Projects Technical Apprentice, you will support the Parks & Projects Technical Team and the Landscape Team with the planning, design, procurement and construction of a broad range of improvement projects across the borough’s parks, green spaces, play areas and other public places.

We are currently working through an ambitious capital improvement programme with a broad range of projects taking place in our parks and other public spaces and therefore this role has been designed to provide experience of supporting both project design and management with the technical team and landscape construction with the in-house Landscape Team.

The chosen course associated with this apprenticeship will be Level 2 Landscape Operative at Myerscough college:  Landscape Operative Level 2 Standard | Myerscough College

Interview schedule: Dates of interview will be confirmed. Interviews will take place in person at our offices in Leyland.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work with both our Parks & Projects Technical Team and Landscape Team. You will have experience or a willingness to learn about public realm and greenspace design and construction work in a local government environment and experience of working closely with individuals and as a member of a team.

Experience, and knowledge, in using Microsoft Office programmes will also be advantageous plus a willingness to learn other software commonly used in the industry.

You will be qualified to a minimum standard of 3 GCSEs at grade C or above, which must include Maths, English and a science subject is desirable.
