Casual Minute Clerks

Business & Corporate Services

Bolton Council

Grade 5 SCP 21 - £10.43 per hour

The Governance Services Team are seeking to appoint casual minute clerks to be part of a pool to take notes and prepare minutes of meetings on an ad hoc basis.

Payment will include up to 1.5 hour preparation time, the time spent in the meeting and up to 3 hours to complete the minutes. Meetings take place at various times throughout the day and evening and last for approximately 2 hours.

For an informal discussion or more information, please contact Marie Foley, Governance Trailing Officer, on 01204 332104. The interview process will include a written/word processing exercise, to be presented to candidates on the day.

As well as attending governing body and trust meetings and taking notes to prepare minutes, post holders should have the ability to present information clearly and assertively. You would provide support on procedure to aid the smooth functioning of the meeting.

It would be useful for the successful applicant to have an understanding of the role of governors and trustees within the management structure of a school or academy and although experience in governance procedure would be desirable, it is not essential as training will be provided.
You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and be able to demonstrate good organisational skills as well as being competent in word processing and the use of the Microsoft Windows Word package. Evening working may be required.
Applicants should have access to a personal computer with Microsoft Word application.

This post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.
