LOCATION: Churchgate House, Central Manchester
HOURS: 36.25 hrs per week – Fixed Term 18 Months
You will lead a programme of activity to deliver a workforce with the higher level skills and scale required to meet the requirements of HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail. You will deliver the GM HS2 Skills & Employment Strategy in a way which maximises impact for GM’s residents and businesses. You will work in partnership with Greater Manchester’s employers, colleges, training providers and universities.
You will have an interest in understanding of the local labour market and skills landscape, ideally with experience of working with the construction and engineering industry and/or STEM sector stakeholders. A proven project/programme manager, you will have a track record of leading the formulation and delivery of strategic objectives in complex environments. Well-developed judgement and understanding of political processes are essential, along with proven skills in negotiation, influencing, advocacy, diplomacy and assertiveness that will ensure co-operation and confidence amongst partners.
