Your role:

It’s an exciting time for fostering in Greater Manchester (GM). The job is a high profile and innovative role with an opportunity to make a significant difference to the almost 4,000 children who are in fostering settings in GM. Working with the 10 fostering services you will be developing and leading an ambitious programme of work to set the standard for delivery in GM, develop shared work and scale and spread best practice.

About you:

Ambitious and passionate about fostering, you will be a creative thinker who can work with great autonomy to deliver change across organisations.

You are an innovative, confident and energetic leader dedicated to achieving positive change for children, families and foster carers across Greater Manchester. You have significant experience as a manager and leader and a proven track record of success.

You will have experience of leading and delivering service review, redesign and transformation in the public, or independent sector. You will be able to identify, describe and implement the very best in fostering practice and have the vision and skill to develop new ways of working together.

You will have excellent communication skills both verbally and written and be confident in delivering information to a range of audiences. You will also be equipped to lead change, influence others, maintain partnerships, influence and inspire.

Hosted by Wigan Council as the lead authority, and accountable to the 10 Directors of Children’s Services in Greater Manchester you will have the opportunity to join an enthusiastic and supportive senior management team.  You will be working closely with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and The Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership.

Wigan Council has been voted ‘Council of the Year’ at the 2019 LGC Awards and has recently published The Deal 2030, our ambitious plan for our borough.  We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.
