  • Do you want to make a difference and add real value in your community?
  • Do you want a role that is, varied, rewarding and challenging?
  • Can you apply psychology creatively?
  • Do you want to work for a people centred values based organisation with true commitment to work/life balance?

If the answer is yes, then we may have the role for you!

What our team say about us: “You get to follow your interests and try different projects to learn something new”; “It’s a fun service to work for and people really care about what they do”.

About the roles

Here at Salford Educational Psychology Service, we are a large team (over 25) consisting of an Executive Principal Educational Psychologist, Deputy Principal Educational Psychologists, Seniors, Specialists, Main grade EPs, Trainee Educational Psychologists and Assistant Educational Psychologists. We are a supportive, friendly, enthusiastic team where we are encouraged to apply psychology creatively to contribute to Council priority areas. Salford has a partnership arrangement with Tameside and Bury; there are opportunities to work across areas.

We are a values-driven service, and this is evident in day-to-day interactions as well as the bigger decisions made about the service. We have listened to our team and have amended our service delivery model based on feedback in relation to their wellbeing. The team is highly valued in the Local Authority and well regarded by local schools. We have fantastic relationships with our schools; over 90% of whom buy traded packages for in depth casework and development work. All team members get opportunities to work on service development as well as in the service. There is a good balance of statutory and non-statutory work. Educational Psychologists working within the service have reported that we are flexible, collaborative, and innovative.

There are two different roles currently available within our team; you can find out more role-specific information about them, application requirements and apply online here:

To find out more or for an informal chat about the roles, please contact Claire Jackson, Executive Principal Educational Psychologist (c.jackson@salford.gov.uk) or Emily Hart, Senior Educational Psychologist (emily.hart@salford.gov.uk)

We are holding a Meet the Team event via Microsoft Teams on Monday 19 February 2024 at 10.30am. Please email EPS@salford.gov.uk to request the meeting link. Please drop by to discuss any roles you are interested in.
