Your Role

This is an exciting time to join Stockport Council. We are delivering a programme of capital schemes across the borough, including major projects, such as highway improvements along the A34 where the government has announced it will invest £33.6 million and as part of the Cheadle Towns Fund, we have secured £13.9 million towards three of its proposed projects, including a new railway station, the first one in Greater Manchester in more than 30 years!

We are seeking to appoint a Project Officer within the Programme and Project Management Team to support in the delivery of these exciting projects amongst many others.  In this role you will be involved in the management of every aspect of projects from feasibility design, through to construction and handover into the maintenance teams.

Capital Programme Project Management involves the management of minor, major and section 278 highway schemes. This involves duties including: organising regular progress meetings; developing schedules; managing and monitoring project change; risk management and assisting with budget monitoring/control.

About You

You will assist in delivering projects that are part of the Council's Capital Highway and Transportation programme by providing support to the Programme and Project Management Team and taking the lead for the delivery of minor schemes.

You will work with the team to maintain the projects' goals, and quality standards as well as to identify and address any risks as they materialise in order to ensure a seamless project delivery.

The ideal applicant will have knowledge in creating tender/contract documentation, managing small projects to meet goals, and maintaining strong connections with internal and external stakeholders.

We are searching for a diligent and organised individual, who thrives in a busy environment, providing an essential and valuable service that meets the needs of our scheme objectives to the general public and its stakeholders.

This position may be ideal for you if you are a dedicated team player who wants to leave your mark in Stockport.
