As part of the raising Rochdale agenda to raise life ambitions for all learners in a collaborative manner we are thrilled to share Springside Primary Special School intends to extend their curriculum pathways and are therefore seeking to appoint a Driver/Teaching Assistant 1.

Applicants must have a passion for meeting the holistic needs of learners with SEND and support the inclusion agenda. Applicants must be motivated, resilient practitioners, with a growth mindset who place learners at the heart of what they do, always seeking to develop their practice and strive to ensure the best possible outcomes for all in our community.

At Springside we believe in supporting our learners to be independent, to enjoy every element of their lives, to achieve more than they can imagine and have a real sense of self-worth. We believe in challenging the ‘we have always done it this way’ mind-set, together as a community. As such, we have created a Gateway learning team and welcome practitioners who will support learners to be ‘Calm enough to engage and alert enough to learn’.

At present as a generic special school catering for 130 learners aged 4-11 years, we have 3 phases to ensure we provide a specialised and personalised curriculum. In September 2023 we launched a ‘Learning for life’ hub to run alongside our finely tuned pathways.

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in supporting exciting opportunities for the learners – this could involve driving for local visits, occasional residential visits, and supporting teaching and learning in School when required. Learners have a wide range of interests and needs.

The duties of this role include driving responsibilities and ensuring that the minibus maintenance checks and servicing are completed and up-to-date (in liaison with the School Business Manager). Part of the duties would include setting up the bus and making sure it is safe for different trips. You would usually support the class team while out on a visit with the learners or support with other organisational matters. Other duties include supporting teaching and learning in school when required.

Successful applicants would be required to be over 21 and hold a PSV/PCV Manual Driving Licence with a minimum of 1 years’ experience as a PSV/PCV driver.

Visits to the School are welcomed.

Springside School is a generic special primary school which caters for 120 learners aged between 3-11 years of age. Springside is co- located with Hamer Primary School in a purpose, built setting which opened in 2007.
